Greed is not simply wanting to earn more- that’s fine because wanting to earn more money can be rooted in healthy things like wanting to travel the world or help other people like your family, children, or strangers

But greed is about wanting to earn more money or power at the expense of other people’s health and wellbeing

Pornographers are greedy, drug-dealers are greedy, and anybody trying to sell us something that doesn’t benefit us is greedy

Greed is rooted in insecurity, “I will do whatever it takes to survive, even if it means screwing over other people”

In Spiral Dynamics, this is a very 🟤 and 🔴 trait, with some of this present in 🟠, if diluted thanks to passing through the moralistic 🔵

Greed is what allows a man to be ok with destroying another man’s health for personal gain, even if they ‘do it to themselves’

Harming one person includes harming their family, which may include kids, so one should prefer to go hungry than to sink to such levels of animalistic conduct

In an effort to sleep peacefully at night, the perpetrator may attempt to forget or justify his purposeful wrongdoings, and sometimes even the victim forgets, but God never will, so in my view we must be willing to go hungry than to go greedy

Greed is often confused with gluttony, which is a word usially used in regards to overindulgence in food or drink - however more broadly it is about consuming more than we need for pleasure or comfort, often without regard for the consequences to health or resources, so we can also be a gluttonous user of pornography

The popular children’s book series Mr. Men features Mr. Greedy, who should be called Mr. Gluttonous instead
