Forgiveness comes about at the recognition of the innocence of things. Even those who claim to enjoy harming others have not yet had insights that would make them loving, and therefore have the potential to become more loving.

Therefore their evil is due to ignorance- and it is not reasonable to hate a person for being ignorant.

In ignorance there is innocence.

One can imagine how they would treat family members if they had just come into existence. What is all their past trespasses against you were wiped from your mind? We retain the memory of others' trespasses against us for the purposes of survival, but I'd argue that in mist cases, retaining this information is a waste of mental space.
