The screen in this metaphor is simply awareness. You know how you're aware right now? A subtle shift in consciousness might occur where you're like "Oh yeah, I am aware right now". That's the awareness that I'm talking about.
The content of the screen
The content of the screen is everything we are aware of, including emotions, thoughts, and the five senses.
The power of this metaphor
The power of this metaphor is that it results in the non-attachment which the Buddha talked about.
This should not be confused with apathy, hating life, etc.
Life is an absolutely incredible movie and I enjoy watching it.
In life, know when to be the screen, not always the content on the screen. This allows for peace on demand.
